Dr. Davey Chafe, Ph.D, C. Psych

Director Registered Clinical and Counselling Psychologist Supervisor in Clinical Psychology

Dr. Chafe completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at York University. He completed his clinical residency at the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships where he worked with diverse groups of individuals and couples experiencing a range of difficulties.

Dr. Chafe has a warm interpersonal style and is empathetic, nonjudgmental, and compassionate in his work. He believes providing a safe, collaborative, and welcoming environment allows individuals to work through their difficulties and emotions in a safe and healthy way.

Dr. Chafe has worked with individuals experiencing a variety of difficulties including post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, mood disorders (e.g., depression), and anxiety (e.g., worry, social anxiety, panic), along with other common difficulties such as self-criticism, emotion regulation difficulties, relationship issues, and work and school related stress. He has also worked with neurodivergent populations (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder) providing coaching and counselling to university students with ASD. To help navigate these difficulties, Dr. Chafe takes an integrative, client centred approach to treatment drawing from evidence-based therapies such as Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Skills, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed therapies, and self-compassion.

In terms of couples and sex therapy, Dr. Chafe works with couples to address a wide range of relationship issues, including improving their capacities for emotional, physical and sexual intimacy, repairing ruptures to their bond in the aftermath of infidelities and betrayals, and managing conflicts over finances, parenting and extended family members (i.e., dealing with difficult in-laws). Dr. Chafe supports couples who are in high distress and face issues such as Complex PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and other intricate difficulties.

Dr. Chafe has completed clinical training in a variety of settings, including the York University Psychology Clinic, Brampton Civic Hospital in their Adult Day Treatment Program for depression and anxiety, Bear Psychology – Trauma Institute doing individual and group therapy, and provided DBT-informed couples therapy as part of a clinical research trial. During his residency at the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships, he worked from integrative and psychodynamic/psychoanalytic perspectives. Throughout these settings, he has worked with individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds that present with a variety of psychological difficulties. In addition, he actively attends workshops to further his clinical training.

Dr. Chafe's early research involved studying psychotherapy process (i.e., the moment-to-moment mechanisms that contribute to change), and his graduate research focused on self-compassion, self-criticism, online interventions, and therapist development.

Dr. Chafe’s schedule is currently full and is not taking on new clients at this time.

Dr. Briana Goldberg, PsyD, C.Psych

Clinical Psychologist (Supervised Practice) Supervised by Dr. Davey Chafe

Dr. Goldberg is passionate about helping adults and couples build lives that feel authentic and fulfilling. She helps clients reconnect with themselves, understand their emotions, and move toward what actually matters to them.

She particularly enjoys working with high-achieving individuals who, from the outside, seem to have it all together but are quietly struggling with feelings of not being good enough (e.g., in relationships, work, parenting, etc.), perfectionism, or chronic overwhelm.

Relationship work is a core focus of her practice. She helps individuals understand their patterns, build confidence, and navigate dating or strengthen their current relationship. With couples, she helps build stronger communication, deepen connection, and work through conflict and recurring patterns. She works from an affirming, informed understanding of the autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD experience, offering individual and couples support that makes space for clients to be their authentic selves, with attention to communication differences and sensory needs. She has a strong sense of how different diagnoses intersect, and brings that lens to every client she sees.

Dr. Goldberg also has a special interest in supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause. These stages bring real shifts in mental health and identity and deserve focused, informed care. She understands the overwhelm that can come with balancing motherhood, career, and everything in between.

Her approach is calm, steady, and warm. She's collaborative, tailoring her approach to each client and drawing on emotion-focused therapy (EFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic therapy. She works with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, bipolar disorder, emotion dysregulation, low self-esteem, chronic stress, burnout, and grief.

Dr. Goldberg is accepting new clients and offers virtual sessions during the daytime on Tuesdays and Fridays and sees clients in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
